Sept. 26

We have tentatively scheduled a meeting for Tuesday the 2nd at Small Planet at 7pm. This will potentially be our regular meeting time. Email me or add resources to the resource page if you have any!

Oh, and don't forget to visit the table at Revelations on Monday!

Sept. 24

We have 2 meetings scheduled: Today Monday from 12-1 and Wednesday from 12-1 at Revelations. Come if you can, we will be going over what to include in the Resource Center info.

August 30

At our meeting we discussed:

The Resource center. If we are going to have a table at Revelations, we need to start getting information together. Please start thinking about any people, books, websites, articles, and random information that we might want included in the building section.

LEED. This is a certification that was developed by the USGBC for green buildings. You have to document the building process, and everything you did to make it more sustainable. You get points in various areas, and depending on how many points you earn, your building is certified. We think Fairfield needs a leed project.

People can also become LEED certified. You have to study the manual (a 300 page book outlining all the possible points) and take a test. We might want to have a study group and get certified.

Lastly, we talked about making a small handout for Art Walk. Diane has been working hard on a flier as well, so I think we might just want something small like a bookmark with some info and links. If you have ideas let me know.

August 26

We have a meeting tentatively scheduled for Tuesday the 28th 7pm at Small Planet.

August 16

Wendy Bruen contacted me on Tuesday about putting together a brochure for the Sept. art walk. She asked for some basic information on what the Building group was up to, and this is what I mailed to her:

The Buildings and Built environment committee is interested in making sure that development and construction are done in a smart, appropriate, environmentally responsible way. We want to promote green building techniques by making information about them more easily accessible, and providing resources for homeowners, developers, designers, builders, and any other interested parties.
Our first project is to develop an office to house this Resource Center. We are looking for property in town which we plan to retrofit as a showcase for energy efficient design. This office will be a one stop shop for all information about green building. It may eventually employ a consultant, or house volunteers who will be available to help with your projects.
We are still in the beginning stages, and welcome anyone who is interested in joining our efforts.

It looks like we will be going to check out the Armory soon, although no date has been set yet.

August 14

We are currently looking for property to house our Resource Center. We would like to be on or close to the square, and the Armory is a good possibility. We are emailing to keep eachother updated, so if you aren't recieving any emails from the building group or me, please email and let me know.
