DianeDiane's Mission Statement:Some of my thoughts..... 1. Define carbon neutral and obtain a carbon footprint for Fairfield, as Fred outlined. 2. Come up with a strategy that first achieves carbon neutrality then moves into sustainable/regenerative measures so that Fairfield bcomes as nearly a 100% sustainable city as possible. Come up with general strategies for reducing our carbon output and work together with the citizen action committees to share ideas so they can expand and put them into action. Perhaps our site could compile many potential ideas and be a resource for all citizen action committees.
3. Provide community education about a. The problem of global warming and that we can each contribute to its reduction
b. How to reduce carbon output - for residences, businesses and the government
c. Ways to go beyond carbon neutrality to implement sustainable/regenerative measures
4. Provide the city government with a vision of how to (1) achieve carbon neutrality and (2) how to go beyond to implement sustainable/regenerative measures. Inspire the city to embrace regenerative measures and establish a city commission. Take pro-active steps to ensure this happens, i.e., meeting with city council members, inspiring community to lobby for city sustainability, etc. 5. Come up with cost-effective projections so community can see the bottom-line value of carbon neutrality and sustanability. Come up with various other "selling points" so people see value. I like all Fred's and Bob's ideas, as well. |
