Passive Solar"Passive Solar" refers to the use of sunlight to heat, cool, and illuminate interior building spaces without the use of mechanical or electrical equipment. This is done through proper orientation and insulation of the building; the key is in the design. Passive solar technologies require no energy costs, have minimal operating costs, and emit zero green house gases, for these reasons passive solar design should be instigated before incorporating active solar technologies.
